10. The Last Guardian -Despite nit-picks regarding technical issues, there’s something truly special about the spiritual sequel to Shadow of the Colossus. Your two unlikely companions may both want different things, leading to some miscommunications between them, but there’s something much deeper than just kinship: as an onlooker, you cannot help but fall helplessly in love with their story. Only the best games have you this involved. If you can get past the annoying set backs that the extremely intelligent AI cause then I ensure that you'll fall in love with this game .

9. Gears of War 4 -is a worthy successor to the trilogy that came before it. The story features a familiar face or two, but remains true to its uniqueness that fans have grown to know and love. The online component adds new and altered multiplayer modes, but keeps the gameplay locked into what made the originals so interesting and memorable.

8. Pokémon Sun and Moon-Sun and Moon offers the biggest changes that the core Pokémon series has ever attempted. Removing gyms, Hidden Machines (HMs), and altering original Pocket Monsters was a huge gamble – and all of it has paid off. Honouring the franchise’s past while looking to the future must have been a difficult ideal for Nintendo and The Pokémon Company to nail down, but the end result of this undertaking is a pair of lovingly crafted, must-haves for fans new and old. Truly, this is the celebration of Pokémon that gamers have been waiting for.

7. Titanfall 2 -has succeeded in surpassing the original title in every way. It delivers an emotional, action-packed single player experience that will leave fans new and old feeling satisfied, and the fluid combat mechanic both in and out of one’s titan packs plenty of punches and doesn’t hold back when it comes to the visceral brutality of pilot warfare.

6. No Mans Sky-There are few games that will change the face of gaming forever: No Man’s Sky is certainly one of them. As a space explorer, you are tasked with flying around the literally infinite universe, searching the unknown for answers to everything and anything. Despite many gamers feeling let down by the game, No Man’s Sky really is a one-of-a-kind experience.

5. Battlefield 1-There’s no doubt that Battlefield 1 is an expert execution on the premise that made it so highly anticipated to begin with. Electronic Arts and DICE have provided consumers with a beefy multiplayer game that impresses at every corner and features a brief campaign that

4. Dark Souls 3-Like previous games offered by From Software, Dark Souls 3 offers a unique experience that blends subtle storytelling, dark settings, and painfully difficult encounters to stand out from the crowd of other action games. The challenge is well worth the countless deaths and hours of practice for players who have the patience, but is likely one that should be skipped by gamers who prefer to get things right on the first try.

3. Uncharted 4-independent of the hype or the series’ legacy, Uncharted 4 is worth the recommendation on its own merits. From the tremendous environments to the incredible character work to the globetrotting story, the design of the game is second to none, setting a new bar for interactive experiences. It’s true that Naughty Dog puts a lot more stock into story and character, but even then Uncharted 4 is pure, unadulterated fun.

2. Thumper-Thumper’s brutal, breakneck speed and precision-based musical action keeps the player entranced for all nine of its bizarre, nightmarish stages, which contained enough nuanced high score-chasing tricks to demand several replays already. To really master Thumper’s many layers of rhythm-based mechanisms would take much more time than the 10 or so hours it takes to complete the first time – and that’s a challenge that I eagerly accept.

1. Overwatch-Blizzard has always had a penchant for online multiplayer games (World of Warcraft) but no-one knew quite how brilliant a colourful shooter from the company could be. Overwatch pits your team of various bizarre characters against other teams in numerous game modes, all of whom are battling for the sake of battling. A unique multiplayer experience that far exceeds the likes of Call of Duty.
